Overview
This is a stone built villa in the tradition of Istrian stone farmhouses, with a traditional outdoor staircase leading to the first floor, to a large outdoor covered landing/terrace. In the olden days the ground floor and first floor were totally separated, as the family would keep their animals and storage on the ground floor, and the living area was on the first floor. These days everything inside is of the highest standard, and there is an indoor staircase, whilst the outdoor staircase is there to remind us how the farmer once lived. Small windows and wooden shutters provide protection from the summer heat.
There are another three villas in the complex which together could sleep up to 34 people. Each villa has its own pool but the main garden and grounds are shared, including a small golf practice area. A wine cellar where you can buy excellent wines is also available.
The villa is located in the heart of the Istrian countryside not far from Pazin and Motuvun. We highly recommend a visit to the picturesque village of Vizinada which transports you back into the past and exudes an incredible sense of peace.
Accommodation
Accommodation is on two floors - ground floor and first floor.
Ground floor
From the garden you enter into a large sitting room, which is decorated and furnished in a pleasant, rustic style. There are old oak floors, lovely rugs and an oak staircase leading to the first floor gallery. The sitting room has a typical large Istrian fireplace in a central position, and this is used in cooler months for warmth, but also for cooking and grilling. Very tasteful country furniture with armchairs, sofas and oak chests is used in this room. The sitting room contains a satellite TV, a DVD player, HiFi From the sitting room there is an entrance to a classical Mediterranean country kitchen with lemon coloured walls, warm wood kitchen tops and oak beamed ceiling. The country look is completed with an old stone sink and lovely hand - made tiles. The kitchen is equipped with a freezer which has a fridge compartment, cooker, hob, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, full set of cooking utensils and tableware. There is a massive old oak table that sits six to eight people comfortably. On the ground floor are also a sauna and a beautiful indoor whirlpool spa, and a seperate WC with a washing machine.
First floor
Three comfortable double bedrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom has a large double bed and an en-suite bathroom with its own balcony, and the other two bedrooms share a shower room between them and also a joint balcony with beautiful views over the rolling countryside. All bedrooms have gorgeous oak beamed ceilings. One of these two bedrooms has a large double bed, and the other bedroom has twin beds. Nice bed linen and plenty of towels are provided. The bedrooms are reached from the spacious gallery which also has armchairs and can serve as a second sitting room.
Outside
The villa sits in a large unfenced garden which is planted with Mediterranean shrubs such as rosemary, lavender and olive trees and a covered terrace where you can dine al fresco. A lovely pool is surrounded by a stone covered patio and sun loungers and umbrellas are provided. In the shared grounds of the villa there is a small golf practice area and a barbecue area. Each villa has its own parking area.
